Cold War coming to DVD and Blu-ray in November 2019

If you dislike the need to keep your Amazon Prime membership just to watch Cold War when you want, you don’t need to worry for much longer. Amazon has set the DVD and Blu-ray release date for the black and white movie.
You’ll be able to own Cold War on DVD and Blu-ray from Nov. 19, 2019. It’s a surprise that it’s on the way as the majority of Amazon Original movies don’t make it to DVD and Blu-ray. The idea is to keep it just on the streaming service to make it exclusive.

However, this is certainly a movie that deserves to get the DVD treatment. Told completely in black and white, it’s a story that stretches decades and countries. Two people from entirely different backgrounds have to figure out whether their love can make it.

I don’t expect all Amazon Original movies to be released on DVD and Blu-ray in the future. Amazon has only really started doing it with TV shows, with Jack Ryan Season 1 released recently and Good Omens coming up. I think this is something Amazon will do on a case-by-case basis depending on the chances of success on DVD and Blu-ray.
