The Boys Season 1, Episode 7 recap: Homelander visits his real past
The Boys Season 1 penultimate episode delivers more backstory on Homelander. Meanwhile, there’s a major threat on the horizon. Here’s everything that happened in Episode 7.
As you know, a penultimate episode of a season will always deliver major twists and turns. There needs to be some high stake moments to lead into the season finale. Relationships are fractured, loved ones are put at risk, and it looks like the bad guys can win. That’s all certainly the case for The Boys Season 1, Episode 7.

We get more backstory on Homelander, starting with a Christmas party eight years earlier. Homelander took an immediate liking to Butcher’s wife, and it’s sadly not surprising to find out that he did, in fact, rape her.
We get a chance to learn more about Homelander, as he wants to know what actually happened to Butcher’s wife in the end. He heads to the scientist who experimented on him (so he definitely knows the truth about that), who finally tells him that Butcher’s wife was pregnant but the birth killed her and the baby.
If only the doc and Stillwell could get their stories straight. As Homelander talks to her about the situation, Stillwell mentions how sad a miscarriage is. Homelander immediately knows there’s something up.
A-Train threatens Hughie’s dad
Meanwhile, Hughie and Starlight are in bed together but they can’t stay happy for too long. Hughie is still working against her without her realizing. However, this new connection means he doesn’t want to go through with Butcher’s plan.
There isn’t too much time to focus on all this. Hughie gets a call from A-Train, who is at his dad’s house. Fortunately, Hughie doesn’t go in without a plan. As it looks like A-Train could take Hughie down, The Female drops into the apartment and snaps A-Train’s leg. The two manage to get away.
However, there are more problems. The feds have found out about the vigilante group. Everyone has been made and Mother’s Milk needs to get his family to safety. That means he needs to tell them the truth and his wife isn’t happy.
The supervillain problem
Again, there isn’t too much time to focus on that. Butcher knows that Mesmer betrayed them (we saw him hand over everything to Homelander), so Butcher pays Mesmer a visit. Backed into a corner, Butcher has to agree to everything with the feds and accept that he won’t get Homelander.
The information would be enough to take Stillwell and Vought down, but there’s a major problem. A Supe Terrorist is out there with the ability to explode at will. With Supe Terrorists, the Army needs its own Supes.
And just as you thought things couldn’t get any worse, Hughie tells Starlight everything. However, Butcher has other plans and shoots Starlight in the chest. You just know that isn’t going to stop her, but is there any saving her and Hughie’s relationship?
