Find out who will be starring in Joss Whedon’s upcoming HBO series, an epic science-fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women called The Nevers.

Joss Whedon fans, rejoice! I’m happy to inform you he has a new show in the works. He’ll be bringing an epic new science-fiction drama soon to a television screen near you. His latest series, The Nevers, doesn’t yet have premiere date but the main cast has just been announced.

Before we get to that, let me fill you in on the plot of The Nevers. The story will follow a group of Victorian women who find out they have unique gifts and abilities. We know that Outlander star, Laura Donnelly will be the series lead, Amalia True, but Variety has the scoop on the rest of the ensemble.

Olivia Williams will play Lavinia Bidlow. Bidlow is a wealthy, stern woman who funds the Orphanage with her family fortune. James Norton will star as Hugo Swann, a pansexual man who runs a private club and frequently dabbles in the art of blackmail.

Additional characters include Penance Adair (played by Ann Skelly), she is one of the first women to join Amalia’s cause. She considers herself a devout Irish girl. Augustus “Augie” Bidlow is Lavinia’s younger brother. He is somewhat unnerved by the Touched, though he is fascinated with Penance Adair. Tom Riley will portray Augie.

Next, we have Detective Frank Mundi (Ben Chaplin), a tough man with deep morals who is prone to violence. He’ll find himself in embroiled in a complicated battle between the Touched and the law he has always known.

Pip Torrens joins the cast as Lord Massen, a fierce defender of the British Empire. Elsewhere, Nick Frost portrays the Beggar King, or Declan Orrun, a charismatic, yet brutal, man, who has his finger almost every criminal pie in the city.

Zackary Momoah, Amy Manson, Rochelle Neil, Eleanor Tomlinson, and Denis O’Hare will also star in The Nevers as a physician, a gang leader, a career criminal, a failed singer, and a gifted American surgeon, respectively.
