Fans of Agatha Christie rejoice! Amazon and BBC have cast Kaya Scodelario and Rufus Sewell in their upcoming adaptation of The Pale Horse.

The Pale Horse is a work of detective fiction by acclaimed author Agatha Christie. The story begins when a dying woman reveals a dark secret and a list of names in her final confession to a Catholic priest.

Before anything can be done about her admission, she dies suddenly in the fog. The police investigate her death, and a young boy begins piecing together the evidence of what she left behind.

Amazon, in collaboration with BBC, will produce a two-part drama series to adapt The Pale Horse.

The cast for the series has been announced, per The Hollywood Reporter, and will consist of Kaya Scodelario, Rufus Sewell, Bertie Carvel, Sean Pertwee, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Poppy Gilbert, Madeleine Bowyer, Sarah Woodward, Georgina Campbell, Claire Skinner, and Ellen Robertson. In addition to this large ensemble, the cast will also have a trio of witches played by Rita Tushingham, Sheila Atim, and Kathy Kiera Clarke.

The television series will take a slightly different approach to the story. Instead of the woman dying and confession to a priest, it will begin with Rufus Sewell’s character, Mark Easterbrook, uncovering a list of names in the shoe of a dead woman.

Filming on the project has already begun, but it is unclear when the series will be made available for Amazon Prime members. The series will yet again be adapted by Sarah Phelps, who also adapted previous Christie adaptation, Ordeal by Innocence.
