Emmys 2019: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Fleabag, and more give Amazon a push in nominations
Amazon fared well in the Emmys 2019 nominations. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel certainly led the way for comedy, but Fleabag and more also saw recognition.
The nominations for the Emmys 2019 have been revealed. While Game of Thrones certainly led the way on the side of drama, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel picked up its fair share of awards on the comedy side. And that’s not all for Amazon.
In fact, the awards nominations showed a lot of love for Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with both Fleabag and Killing Eve on the list in various categories. While Killing Eve isn’t Amazon, we still want to celebrate it for Waller-Bridge. It’s going to be tough seeing Fleabag and Mrs. Maisel go head-to-head in a number of categories, though!

It’s not just The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Fleabag that give Amazon a boost in the ranking by TV programs. While Midge and her family and friends scored 20 nominations and Fleabag gained 11, Amazon as a whole gained 47 nominations.
Some of the nominations are for the “smaller” awards, those such as cinematography and art direction. I put smaller in the quote marks because I don’t believe they’re worth less than the Outstanding Actress, Outstanding Comedy etc. Everything has to come together for a good show, but the awards shows often overlook some of the behind-the-scenes elements.
However, The Man in the High Castle and Hanna are among shows that have gained nominations at the Emmys 2019 for behind-the-scenes elements. A Very English Scandal is one that some may overlook on the list, but has been nominated for a couple of awards.
And while Good Omens has been snubbed for Outstanding Miniseries or Outstanding Actor awards, it has been nominated for its music and title sequence. They are certainly well deserved, but I would have loved to see David Tennant and Michael Sheen nominated, as well as the series as a whole.
