Euphoria Season 1, Episode 5 preview: Maddy and Nate face a police investigation
By Mads Lennon
Nate and Maddy will get tangled up in a police investigation in episode five of Euphoria. Has Maddy decided to press charges against her abusive boyfriend?
It’s not an understatement to say that a lot went down on last week’s episode of Euphoria. The carnival proved the perfect backdrop for several storylines to catapult in new directions, or come to an explosive head.
Let’s start with the two centerpiece players: Rue and Jules. Rue got a taste of her own medicine when Gia got high, and she had to play caretaker. Elsewhere, Jules came face-to-face with Nate (ShyGuy118), and things took a threatening turn.

In the aftermath of Nate’s disturbing act of violence, Jules turns to Rue. They share another kiss. But does Jules have genuine feelings for Rue or is she using her as a coping mechanism?
In this week’s episode, Euphoria will tackle that question head-on. Ali, Rue’s new sober coach, will warn her that Jules may change her mind again. Plus, Jules begins to feel pressured as the one person tethering Rue to her sobriety.
As for Nate, it looks like Maddy might be pressing charges against him for almost strangling her in the middle of the carnival. The act may cause Cal to understand how his actions have affected his sons.
Why would Maddy suddenly decide to press charges against Nate? (Not that she shouldn’t, he’s a menace.) But he’s been shown as abusive before now.
Photos from the episode show Maddy and Kat hanging out. Something tells me the newly-confident Kat might have something to do with encouraging Maddy to go to the police.

HBO has also released an official episode synopsis that details much of the episode in full:
"In the aftermath of the carnival, Maddy and Nate are forced to deal with a police investigation. Jules begins to feel pressured by her role in Rue’s sobriety. Kat ignores a confused Ethan and embraces her new lifestyle. Cassie tries to distance herself from Daniel and focus on her relationship with McKay. Cal worries about how his actions have affected his sons."
I recommend watching Euphoria live if you can, it would suck to get spoiled! You’ll need the HBO add-on channel if you intend to watch with your Amazon Prime subscription, but here are the details to view the usual way if you have HBO through your cable subscriber or other means.
