Now Streaming: Too Old to Die Young Season 1

This weekend a new, controversial, and somewhat strange new series, Too Old to Die Young, premieres on Amazon Prime Video. What makes this series such a remarkable entry into the Prime Video catalog is Refn’s own view on how it should be watched.
He did an interview with Indiewire about the unorthodox viewing nature of Too Old to Die Young. When the series debuted at Cannes, it was with only two episodes out of the entire 13-hour season. This isn’t abnormal, but what is strange is that Refn sent out two episodes from the middle of the series.

His goal for this show is that people will watch it at any point in the series they want to. Maybe they’ll only watch 20 minutes, maybe they’ll watch the whole thing. He wants Too Old to Die Young to be consumed like a real streaming series.
Refn draws comparisons to browsing a book at the store. You don’t read the first page, you browse through the middle to see if it’ll captivate you or not.
It’ll be interesting to see how the series does with the casual viewer. Critics appear to be of mixed minds about the series thus far. It is extremely violent and gory, as most of his previous projects are, so keep that in mind if you decide to check it out.
The series stars Miles Teller, Augusto Aguilera, Cristina Rodlo, Nell Tiger Free, and John Hawkes.
