Good Omens has made it into the top 50 TV shows on Amazon Prime Video. Where in the Top 10 has it landed?

May was a good month for Prime Originals. Sneaky Pete, Fleabag, and Good Omens all had new episodes released. It shouldn’t be surprising to hear that the Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett novel adaptation has made it into the Top 10 of 50 best TV shows on Amazon Prime Video.

Many book adaptations struggle to include everything and keep the tone. There were worries that Good Omens would be one of those adaptations. After all, it took so long to get the adaptation made. Fortunately, Gaiman was in control of the development, which meant it was going to keep the format the book offers.

For some, the narration from God doesn’t quite work, however, it’s everything that was needed to keep the feeling of the book. Plus, the small changes that did happen for the show were necessary and just added another layer – like the 30-minute backstory for Crowley and Aziraphale.

As well as the writing, this show has done it just right with the casting. Putting David Tennant and Michael Sheen together is a work of art. Including Jon Hamm into that is perfect. While there are many familiar faces, they don’t take from the overall storyline.

When it comes to miniseries, Good Omens is perfect. It has the beginning, middle, and end. There’s no need for more episodes, and a great show knows when to stop.
