Good Omens Episode 2 recap: Witches, witchfinders, and more
If you thought it was just going to be about a demon, an angel, and the Antichrist in Good Omens, you were mistaken. Episode 2 makes it clear there are more players in the apocalypse.
Good Omens Episode 2 pushes the apocalypse forward, making it clear that it’s not just about the demon and the angel trying to stop the apocalypse. After Adam got his hellhound, it was time for the Four Horsemen Motorcyclists of the Apocalypse to turn up. After all, you can’t have a war without War.
As Heaven and Hell make it clear that things are going to plan right now, we get to see the first Motorcyclist of the Apocalypse. Mireille Enos appears as War, who is in the Middle East laughing at the idea of peace accords being signed, only to receive her sword from the Courier Man. Sure enough, the peace accords aren’t signed and another war breaks out as she walks away with a grin.

Before we can even look at the upcoming apocalypse, we take a trip to the past, where we see the witchfinders (Thou-Shalt-Not-Commit-Adultery Pulsifer, Jack Whitehall) and the witch (Agnes Nutter, Josie Lawrence). This is a chance to see Agnes’ ability to read the future, although her prophecies don’t always make sense until they happen — but they are accurate!
Knowing that she’s going out means that Agnes is able to plan for this. She drops gunpowder so all the witchfinders are killed at the same time.
Only one copy of the book still remains and passes through the generations. That’s how we end up with Agnes’ descendants having the book, and Anathema Device being a crucial part of the apocalypse.
Meanwhile, Pulsifer’s descendant, Newton Pulsifer, becomes an integral part by becoming a witchfinder. This part does change from the book slightly but not too much that affects the storyline.
When the witch meets the Antichrist
While Adam and his friends (Them) are pretending to burn witches, they run into an adult Anathema. She’s now in England, looking for the Antichrist to stop him to prevent the apocalypse. However, she can’t even recognize the Antichrist before her, but it’s quickly explained that he has the ability to protect himself from any suspicion.
Later, Anathema is knocked down by Crowley, who is speeding through the woods with Aziraphale, in search for the church the Antichrist had been born in. We know the place burned down, but Crowley didn’t. However, he and Aziraphale learn that it’s now a paintballing center for team building.
It just so happens the center is run by Sister Loquacious, the one who failed to switch the Antichrist properly. She clearly has a head for business and she’s proud of it.
But back to Anathema, who is knocked over by the angel and demon. That leads to Agnes Nutter’s prophecy book being left behind in the back of Crowley’s car and Aziraphale gets his hands on it. And finally, Aziraphale is one step closer to figuring out where the Antichrist is. All the information is right in front of him and when he rings the number he’s led to, he shouts “Sorry, right number!” before hanging up.
