The AMC series is the most underappreciated show on television, and if you haven’t seen it yet, you’re seriously missing out. Dominic Cooper (Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, Captain America: The First Avenger) stars as Jesse Custer, a small-town preacher on a wild search to find God.

Based on the Garth Ennis comic of the same name, the series also stars Ruth Negga (Academy Award nominee for Loving) as Jesse’s ex-girlfriend Tulip O’Hare and Joseph Gilgun (Misfits) as the quirky vampire Cassidy.
In the third season, Jesse has to go backward in order to move forward with his quest—returning to his childhood hometown and facing the demons of his past. In true Preacher fashion, that ends up being quite literal, as he squares off against his grandmother, who is the most evil and twisted villain the show has unveiled yet.
Tony Award winner Betty Buckley is devilishly magnificent as Gran’ma, who has a deep love for Jesse but also an undeniably warped way of showing it. Cooper also has one of his best outings, as his character has to own up to a dark history while also showing just how far he’s progressed and testing his faith in many things.
The release of the third season on Prime Video comes a few months ahead of the fourth, and final, season premiere. AMC announced in April that Preacher would end with its next season, which is premiering in the U.S. on Aug. 4.
No word on if that premiere date will be the same for Canadian viewers, but it’s time to start binge-watching the third season and dive into the best season yet. There’s nothing like Preacher and the show has absolutely outdone itself with Season 3.
