Now Apocalypse available in full on the STARZ app

If you’ve been watching Now Apocalypse weekly, there’s some excellent news for STARZ subscribers. You can watch all the episodes in a binge on the STARZ app.

STARZ subscribers have just been given a real treat. Now Apocalypse has been made available as a full binge on the service. This is completely different to other shows, which are released weekly on both the app and on the network.

For those who haven’t heard, Now Apocalypse is the latest comedy on the service. Telling the story of four friends in L.A., it’s a show that is definitely for Millennials (even the cast have said this), showing the crazy life of Millennials in L.A. It’s a psychedelic series that will make you think of love in all shapes and forms.

While the show is available on the STARZ app now as a binge, it’s still going to air weekly on the channel. You’ll get to watch it however you want, depending on the way you prefer to consume content.

Why is STARZ doing this? It could certainly be linked to the ratings. The cable ratings have been low. 0.147 million people tuned in for the first episode live, with a demo of 0.2. That dropped by 15% in the total audience and 50% in the demo for the second, according to TV Series Finale.

It is now the lowest-rated series in the demo for STARZ and the second lowest in the total audience (behind Vida). Things aren’t looking good for a second season unless the ratings are much higher for the app. Shows have been canceled with better ratings.

According to TV Series Finale, the decision is to allow fans to watch at their own pace. Some like to view weekly, but others prefer to binge. On a streaming platform, a binge is expected. You just have to look at Amazon Prime and Netflix to see that fans like to be able to consume content in their own time. Some will take a few weeks and others will watch immediately.

STARZ may be looking at making a change moving forward. Now Apocalypse may be the show to test it on since it is a new series. The question will be whether this continues for other shows on the service.
