Amazon renews Mirzapur for Season 2

Mirzapur was the Indian breakout hit on Amazon Prime Video. Now the show has been renewed for a second season.

Towards the end of last year, Amazon Prime Video brought out one of the best international hits. Mirzapur was the Indian drama that everyone was raving about and now there’s some excellent news. Amazon Prime has renewed Mirzapur for Season 2.

Very little is known about the second season just yet. The first season had nine episodes and focused on the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, including the mafia dons, the crime, and more. A second season is likely to follow some similar storylines. There are still many stories to tell with the current set of characters.

The announcement for the second season came through the form of a video from Amazon Prime Video India. There aren’t any subtitles for it, but the show does include them through the Amazon Prime account for the series.

The Indian Times reports that the show will go on the floors later this year. We could expect to see the second season drop on Amazon Prime in 2019. However, there is no confirmation of this just yet. The good news is there are plans to release to all 200 territories, just like the first season.

Mirzapur Season 1 was set in a fictional town where crime and misuse of power is rampant. The series focuses on a small group and how they live and survive in the area. Despite some of the characters being the antagonists, they certainly gained popularity with the audiences, showing just how well the show is written and acted.
