Benedict Cumberbatch joins Good Omens cast in a big way
Benedict Cumberbatch joins the cast of Good Omens and will play a larger-than-life Satan. Are you excited for the show?
Neil Gaiman isn’t a stranger to having his work adapted to film and television. He has some great fantasy-driven stories to tell. Amazon is taking on Good Omens and it just keeps adding big names to the cast. Benedict Cumberbatch is now set to play Satan, according to Variety.
Cumberbatch is no stranger to the fantastic and spectacular as he plays Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His role there makes me confident that he’s a great choice for Good Omens.
Thanks to the TCAs, we now know that the show will premiere on May 31. Amazon even released a look at what will probably be the animated opening credits for the show.

Good Omens also stars David Tennant and Michael Sheen. We’ll see appearances from Jack Whitehall, Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Jon Hamm, Nick Offerman, and Frances McDormand. If that isn’t a stacked cast, then I don’t know what is.

American Gods has felt like it’s been in limbo since the first season (although will begin its second season internationally on Prime in March), so hopefully, Amazon can capitalize and make Good Omens everything that fans are wanting it to be.
Here’s how Satan was described by Gaiman in the aforementioned Variety article:
"Gaiman said that Cumberbatch’s Prince of Darkness will be “a giant, animated Satan” who appears “400 foot high.”"
If you haven’t had a chance to pick up a copy of the book yet, I’d recommend doing so. This will come as no surprise, but Amazon has the book in hardcover, paperback and on Kindle.
