HBO’s Gunpowder certainly gained attention. After initially airing in the UK, Stateside fans couldn’t wait to catch the three-episode mini-series with Kit Harington. Gunpowder is out on DVD and Blu-ray in March and you can pre-order it right now.
There isn’t too long to wait for the series. Less than a month if you’re counting down. Gunpowder will be out to own on DVD and Blu-ray on Mar. 5, 2019. You can pre-order it now from Amazon, getting the Price Guarantee at the same time.

Starring Kit Harington and Peter Mullan, the mini-series was based on the real events of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. While most people remember Guy Fawkes, there were many other plays in the conspiracy, including Harington’s ancestor Robert Catesby. With growing tension in the country, a group of Catholics plot to take down the king, kidnap his daughter, and put her on the thrown with a loyalty to the Catholics.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well, it was one of those plots that almost went off without a hitch. The Houses of Parliament were almost blown to smithereens, but the night before the plot was supposed to go off, they were caught. Gunpowder doesn’t just show how they were caught, but it shows the reason for the tensions and the development of the plot.
You can already watch Gunpowder digitally, but you’ll need a subscription to HBO. You can get this through Amazon Channels and it’s not clear yet if the episodes will become available to purchase digitally on Amazon, but you can get other HBO shows so it will likely be possible after the DVD release. Getting the series on DVD means you can watch to your heart’s content.
