Brittany Runs a Marathon is the latest Sundance Film Festival release to head over to Amazon Studios, with head Jennifer Salke taking the lead in negotiations.

What a way to mark her year anniversary with Amazon. Jennifer Salke has led the Amazon Studios bid to land Brittany Runs a Marathon, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival on Monday.

It’s just the latest addition from the festival for Amazon and marks another high-priced acquisition. Like The Report, which Amazon Studios acquired on Monday, Brittany Runs a Marathon was acquired for worldwide rights for a whopping $14m.

Written and directed by Paul Downs Colaizzo, the movie is based on a true story of his roommate. Despite being funny and the light of any room, her diet and partying habits led to some major health problems. This isn’t a movie about fat-shaming but about raising awareness of what a bad diet and lifestyle can lead to.

Brittany, played by Jillian Bell, decides that it’s time to lose weight and change her lifestyle. What better way than training for a marathon?

Salke, who moved from NBC to the head of Amazon Studios last year, led the all-night marathon bidding for the movie. It’s the third all-nighter for the studio, which has started focusing more on movies than TV shows this week. This doesn’t mean there will be no focus on TV, but there’s been minimal focus on movies this last year and that’s changing.

There are still signs that Amazon wants more movies from the Sundance Film Festival. Eyes are on the political documentary Knock Down the House, which chronicles Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s journey (along with three other women) to challenge the country’s status quo in Congress, according to Deadline.
