It’s the award we have all been waiting for at the Emmys 2018. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has taken home the Outstanding Comedy Series.

After winning four awards at the start of the Emmys 2018, we had to wait until the end to find out whether The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel would walk home with the Outstanding Comedy Series. There was certainly some tough competition, but the excellent writing, directing, and overall series proved to be successful.

The Amazon Prime Original was up against some tough competition against the bigger networks and other streaming services. Black-ishAtlantaUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and GLOW were all nominated for the award.

While all comedies, they all have their own storylines and focuses. Some are current day shows, while others are set in different time periods. However, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is the only one set in 1958 New York, adding the costumes, setting, and much more into the excellent writing and acting.

There’s no denying that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel deserves the win. This is a series that brings us a woman that is the stereotypical 1950s Upstate New York housewife and mother. She’s blindsided when her husband leaves her for his secretary and suddenly her life is turned upside down.

Daniel Palladino accepted the award with his wife Amy Sherman-Palladino by his side and the cast surrounding him. After thanking all the important people, he shared that filming for the second season wrapped a little over a day ago. This could give us a hint of when the show will premiere. We know it’s going to be this year, but we’re likely looking at the end of November or the start of December.

Palladino also shared his excitement for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel  Season 3, which was confirmed back in May. So are we!

Out of the 14 nominations at the Emmys 2018, this marks the eighth win for the series (and Alex Borstein won a Creative Arts Emmy for her work on Family Guy). That’s just an excellent start for a series that only has one season available to watch so far! It’s also an excellent sign for Amazon, as it makes a mark along with the likes of Netflix, HBO, Showtime, and more.
