Bryan Cogman inks overall deal with Amazon Studios

Amazon Studios has landed Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman in an overall deal. He’s set to work on a number of Prime Original content.

Amazon Studios has just landed a Game of Thrones superstar. Emmy Award-winning writer Bryan Cogman as joined the production company in an overall deal, according to a press release from Amazon.

Cogman, who has worked on the likes of The Sword in the Stone remake and the upcoming The Haunted Mansion, will work on projects that are exclusively for the studio. Amazon Prime Originals are then released on Prime Video across 200 countries and territories.

When Game of Thrones first started, very few would have heard of Cogman. He started as an assistant to the showrunners, but quickly showed his skills and was tasked with writing a number of monumental episodes of the series. Fan reaction was exactly what was needed and he continued to build his career.

Co-Head Television at Amazon Studios, Albert Cheng, shared that “[Cogman’s] storytelling prowess is undeniable, and we cannot wait to introduce his voice to our Prime Video audience. And Cogman can’t wait to get started with new writing projects for the studio.

We don’t know yet what Cogman will work on, except for the current studio production The Haunted Mansion. There are a number of Amazon Studios projects in the works right now. With the EU looking to force Amazon to create more locally-produced content, there may be even more in the years to come. Amazon is certainly looking to build on the original content it already produces, including The Man in the High CastleSneaky Pete, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
