The future of the Amazon original series of Transparent is up in the air after star Jeffrey Tambor has left the series. According to a report from Deadline, Tambor resigned from Transparent after an actress and personal assistant from the series accused Tambor of sexual harassment.
In the last week, two sexual harassment allegations against Tambor have been reported. Van Barnes, Tambor’s former personal assistant, and actress Trace Lysette said Tambor harrassed them on multiple occasions. Tambor has denied the claims.
Deadline is reporting Tambor left the series because of the “politicized atmosphere” on set because of the allegations. Amazon had yet to respond to in any meaningful way to the allegations, but it’s unclear if they were looking at canceling the series due to the sexual harassment allegations against Tambor.
There have been rumors, and now it’s been reported by Deadline, that Tambor may not have been coming back for Transparent season 5 in the first place. Because Tambor was the center of the show, you’d think he would have been involved somehow, even if Tambor’s character was not exactly the focus of the plot.

It will be interesting to see how Transparent and Amazon deal with this issue. With Tambor leaving willingly, it seems like it will be easy to move forward with him.
The show’s quality has dipped in recent seasons, and the lack of award show recognition lately could give Amazon enough reason to cut the series, especially with this dark cloud looming over it.
We will be sure to let you know what Amazon does moving forward. According to Deadline, Amazon and show creator Jill Soloway did not respond publicly yet to Tambor’s exit from the series. There will be more news about the future of this series soon, likely sometime next week. Stay tuned.
