When will The Man in the High Castle Season 2 be on Amazon Prime Video?

A look into when The Man in the High Castle Season 2 will be released on Amazon Prime Video. 

UPDATE 12/18/15: The Man in the High Castle has been renewed for a second season, according to Deadline. 

After The Man in the High Castle has captivated audiences across the world, everyone is asking the same question: “When will The Man in the High Castle Season 2 be released on Amazon Prime Video?”

Well, Amazon hasn’t renewed The Man in the High Castle for a second season yet, but based on what we’ve read about the series from Frank Spotnitz, it seems clear that Amazon should renew the series within the next few weeks.

Assuming that happens and Amazon does renew The Man in the High Castle for a second season, we have a pretty good idea about how long it will take before the second season would hit Amazon Prime Video.

Typically, it takes about a year to have the series prepped and ready to go for another season. That’s how TV has worked for a long time, and that’s how HBO, Netflix, and others have done business in the beginning of the streaming era. Obviously, Amazon doesn’t have to follow those timelines, but it seems likely that they would try.

With that said, I have a feeling that it’s going to take a bit longer than a year for the second season of The Man in the High Castle to hit Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon’s most popular and best original series Transparent has taken much longer than one year to release the second season. The first season of Transparent premiered in September 2014, and the second season of the series will premiere on December 11, 2015. On top of that, Transparent is much easier to shoot because it’s a comedy set in a world very similar to the real world.

The Man in the High Castle has a much more difficult world to create, and there’s a ton of CGI (computer-generated imagery), which can take a while to create and perfect. And, that’s not even considering the most important part of the equation: the story.

That will take some time to think, re-think, write, and re-write before the series would go into production of the second season.

All in all, that seems like it will push The Man in the High Castle Season 2 back to the spring of 2017.

So, if I had to make a prediction, I would predict that The Man in the High Castle Season 2 would be released on Amazon Prime Video.

Of course, that’s not official because Amazon hasn’t even renewed the series yet. We’ll be sure to let you know when we hear more about the future of the show.
