We created a checklist to help you decide whether or not an Amazon Prime membership is worth the prime of $99 per year.

Lately, we’ve noticed a lot of people searching for information online and on social media about the price of Amazon Prime and whether or not an Amazon Prime is worth that price. So, we’d like to help our readers out with the most up-to-date information.

Currently, an Amazon Prime membership costs $99 per year for customers in the United States. It varies a bit depending on the country, but for this exercise we’ll use the U.S. figures.

And, here’s all the perks and benefits of an Amazon Prime membership, via Amazon.com:

  • Free Two-Day shipping with Amazon Prime
  • Unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows with Prime Video
  • Unlimited music streaming
  • Free unlimited photo storage
  • 30-minute early access to select Amazon Lightning Deals and MyHabit.com events
  • A Prime membership includes over 800,000 free ebooks

On the surface, those are the perks of becoming an Amazon Prime member. You can have access to all those benefits for only $8.25 per month.

More from Amazon

We created a checklist to help you decide if Amazon Prime is worth it for you, and here it is:

  • Do you buy something from Amazon once per month?

If you order something, anything from Amazon 12 times per year, the price you will pay for shipping on those will come close to the $99 per year. The price of shipping varies, obviously, depending on where you live, the number of days, and the weight/size of the items. If you order from Amazon more than once per month, on average, you will likely pay more than $100 per year in shipping costs.

Online shopping is easier on Amazon than it is anywhere else on the web, and Amazon Prime only makes it even easier!

  • Would you use Amazon Prime Video?

Amazon has tons of movies and TV shows available on Amazon Prime Video, which is Amazon’s standalone streaming service. Amazon Prime Video has different shows and movies than Netflix and Hulu, but it’s also the cheapest of the three streaming services.

  • Do you listen to music? Do you want to listen to free music?

Amazon Prime Music is another perk of the service. The music streaming service has millions of songs, albums, playlists, and stations that you can listen to for free. And, it’s all ad-free, and you get unlimited access!

  • Do you have an Amazon Kindle?

If you do, you can download more than 800,000 free books from Amazon!

If you answered “Yes” to any of those questions or all of those questions, Amazon Prime is probably right for you! And, I don’t mean to sound like an Amazon Prime promotion robot, but it’s a sweet deal if you order a lot of products and shop a lot, if you read a lot of books, watch TV and movies, and listen to music. Amazon Prime brings all of those things together.

You can listen to music anywhere, so that’s not necessarily a huge perk. Combined with the free e-books, free movies and TV shows on Prime Video, and the free Prime shipping, it’s all a pretty good gig.
