Another season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is on its way. Naturally, you want to jump straight into it. Before you can do that, you need to know more about the age rating.

Like the first season, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is officially rated TV-14. This is the TV equivalent of a PG-13 movie. The show is aimed at those 14 and above, but it will work for younger viewers. It may not be suitable for those under the age of eight.

Why The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is TV-14

You’ll want to take a look at your kids and see what they’re like with content. I always have that opinion, as I know my 12-year-old will easily sit through some shows and movies aimed at those 14+, but will struggle with others based on the content.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power doesn’t have much in the way of nudity and language. There are the odd scenes, but nothing is anything that will make children uncomfortable to watch the show around their parents.

It’s the violence that is going to get some of the younger viewers. This is a fantasy series that sees war come to a nation. If you know the original Lord of the Rings movies, you know what the level of violence is like as they all go up against Sauron. Well, Sauron is just growing in power in this prequel series, and he will not go down without a fight.

One thing that is sure to get the younger viewers is the graphics. This series has amazing scenery, putting House of the Dragons’ dragons to shame! Children are often in awe at the CGI effects added into TV shows and movies, especially if they’re interested in the genre.

There is a lot of exposition and discussion, though. I know that while my eight-year-old would love the action, she would get bored of the talking parts of the series. She’s just not there in terms of mental focus for a show that’s on the scale of The Lord of the Rings.

I’d sit down and watch the first couple of episodes of the series with your children before the second season arrives. It’s also worth watching the trailer with them. Let them guide you as to whether you should keep it for when they go to bed or make some epic memories watching it with them.
