Are you ready to return to Middle Earth? Of course you are, and that’s almost possible. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 finally has a premiere date.

This is a series that takes a long time to produce. After all, look at the amazing graphics! It’s also a series where everyone likes to keep things under wraps and spoiler-free, which means minimal official news. That didn’t stop us from speculating the release date, and we did suspect in fall 2024.

We weren’t too far off. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 will officially premiere on Thursday, Aug. 29. We are expecting a weekly release similar to the first season. This date means that Amazon won't have to compete with Max for viewers with House of the Dragon this time. The premiere of The Rings of Power is around the finale of the Game of Thrones prequel.

Sauron has a new look in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2

There is a poster out to accompany the release information. We get a look at Sauron, who we all know from the J.R.R. Tolkien novels. He is the major antagonist of the original story, but this is a prequel. So, while we hoped to see the rise of Sauron, we couldn’t be guaranteed that would happen.

Well, that was until the finale. We then got official confirmation that Sauron was running the show, and now we’ll see him with a different look. Charlie Vickers will return in the role, but he has a look that will help him infiltrate the various people of Middle Earth.

The Hollywood Reporter has the synopsis for the second season. The Dark Lord has been cast out by Galadriel. He has no army or ally, but that isn’t going to stop him from rebuilding his strength. We will continue to see the various elves, dwarves, orcs, wizards, and more who will find their friendships strained through the chaos that Sauron is able to unleash.

The Rings of Power Season 2 teaser trailer gives us a hint of things to come

The teaser trailer for the second season does not disappoint. Not only does it show us the style of graphics we can still expect, but it gives us a look at the way Sauron is worming his way into those on Middle Earth.

We get a chance to see the fear that everyone has about this great evil that is coming. Can they work together, or are they doomed? We know how it turns out in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, so we know what should happen, but that doesn’t mean the various kingdoms won’t put up a fight.
