No, Citadel Season 2 probably won't arrive in 2024

We are certainly ready for a new year of great shows and movies on Prime Video. One show we would love to see more of is Citadel, but it’s highly unlikely we’ll get Season 2 in 2024.

We do want to point out that there is a series within the franchise coming out this year. Look out for Citadel: Diana. Amazon hasn’t shared the exact release date just yet, but we are expecting the show at some point in 2024.

What about Citadel Season 2, though? When could we expect to see that, and why is there a delay?

When will Citadel Season 2 likely premiere on Prime Video?

We’ll probably need to wait until 2025 for the series, and that’s something we suspected as soon as the show was renewed. This is a huge series, and even without the writers and actors strikes, we were probably looking at the show taking 18 months or so to get through production and post-production. The quality needs to be there for a series like this.

The strike action as probably pushed the show back a little more. We could see it arrive sometime at the end of 2025.

Amazon made it clear when canceling The Peripheral and A League of Their Own that it had a plan for 2024. With Citadel not joining the list of shows canceled, it likely means that this series was always planned for the 2025 schedule. The show could be pushed back a little and even into 2026, which probably hasn’t been fully planned out yet, so it doesn’t disrupt too much of the overall plan.

However, we’re probably going to see the series canceled after Season 2. This expensive show didn’t get the viewership that it likely needed to keep it going further after Season 2.
