Gen V Season 1 premiere date set for September 2023
The Boys college-set spin-off is almost here. Amazon has set the premiere month for Gen V Season 1, and here’s what we know so far.
The world of The Seven is growing even more. Vought International has its own college for Supes, and that’s what we get to see in the new spin-off series Gen V. The title is a take on the generational terms, especially Gen Z, with the use of the V to mark Compound-V that turns people into Supes.
This college-set spin-off series has been in the works for some time. We knew at the start of the year that we’d get to see it sometime in 2023, but we didn’t know when. Well, Amazon has given us a little look at when we can expect it to arrive.
Gen V premiere date on Prime Video
While we don’t have a full premiere date, we know that Gen V Season 1 will premiere in September 2023. Amazon has only released the release months of a few shows, according to TVLine.
Update: Gen V will premiere on Friday, Sept. 29.
This is the same month as The Wheel of Time Season 2, which will premiere on Friday, Sept. 1. That show is likely getting a weekly release, so we’re probably looking at Gen V not coming out until later on in the month; somewhere toward the end of the month. This would then allow time for Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which is set to arrive in November.
We are expecting a weekly release format for Gen V. Eric Kripke asked for that for The Boys in Season 2 and it was the release format for Season 3. This type of show deserves time for fans to talk about it and theorize things, and it makes sense to release the spin-off in weekly installments after an initial three-episode release.
This is also going to be good for Amazon as it starts to run out of content. We see the writers and actors strikes affecting content toward the end of the year for streamers.
