Amazon finds its Alex Cross for upcoming TV series
It’s been around two years since we learned Amazon was bringing an Alex Cross series. The network has now found its lead in a Leverage star.
Back in 2020, we learned some exciting news. After the success of Jack Ryan and with the hope of Reacher being the same, Amazon was picking up another popular book series as a TV show. It would be all about James Patterson’s Alex Cross.
The series was announced without any actors attached to the project. That’s changed recently, with TVLine confirming the show had found its lead.
Who is Alex Cross in the TV series?
Tyler Perry and Morgan Freeman played the role in the movie adaptations, but now it’s time to hand the role over to someone else. That someone else is Leverage star Aldis Hodge, and he has already received positivity from fans of the book. To be honest, he really is the Alex Cross I’ve had in my mind reading the books.
Hodge is also going to be a producer on the series. Ben Watkins is executive producer and showrunner for this adaptation. We still don’t have the title of the book this series will adapt first. There are 29 books so far in the series!
Cross is a detective and forensic psychologist who has one single aim: he wants to hunt killers. That’s all he’s interested in. Well, okay, he would like love, but he’s been left damaged after his wife’s murder and now he can’t let people in to give love a chance. He tries to be there for his family, though.
He is full of contradictions. Cross is a flawed character, but we love him for that. After all, nobody is perfect.
There is still no word on when this series will arrive on Prime Video. Finding its lead is just the first part.
