The Crawleys returned in another feature movie. This time, it was a chance to head to the South of France. The dowager duchess learned that she had inherited a villa, and it turned out there was a big secret behind it all.

Meanwhile, the family has a chance to celebrate a wedding. Along with that, a field production wants to make Downton its backdrop. This means the home is filled with starlets, and the staff needs to figure out how to bring some normalcy as they figure out the modern world in the roaring ’20s.

The DVD release date has finally been confirmed. Downton Abbey: A New Era will head to DVD and Blu-ray on Tuesday, July 5. This is much earlier than we expected, which is great news. It has been difficult to keep track of some release formats, especially with changes in 2022.

It’s possible that the early release has happened due to the way things have changed for streaming. The movie is coming to Peacock at the end of June. It doesn’t make sense to hold the DVD release too late considering people are going to just end up streaming on Peacock.
