Is Luca coming to DVD and Blu-ray?

Luca is currently available to stream on Disney Plus. Will it ever head to DVD and Blu-ray? If so, when could that be?

Disney continues to bring out movies for the whole family during the pandemic. While some of them have gone to Disney Plus with Premier Access, others have just headed straight to Disney Plus for everyone.

Luca is one of the latter. The new animated movie is available to anyone with a subscription. It doesn’t quite meet the same standard as other Disney Pixar movies, but it’s still sweet and worth a watch, especially if you have young children.

If you don’t have Disney Plus, you may be wondering if there are other ways to watch it. Will Luca ever be available on DVD and Blu-ray?

Luca could come to DVD and Blu-ray

If Disney had opted for bringing the movie with Premier Access, we wouldn’t debate whether the movie would head to DVD and Blu-ray. Other movies with Premier Access have gone to DVD and Blu-ray, including Mulan and Raya and the Last Dragon.

However, it’s harder to tell when a movie is going straight to Disney Plus for all at no extra cost. We need to look at other movies that have had a similar release, and in this case, we’re looking at Soul.

The Christmas release went straight to Disney Plus for everyone. After three months, it headed to DVD and Blu-ray. We can expect something similar for Luca.

We’re looking at Luca coming to DVD and Blu-ray in the middle of September. Based on Soul‘s release, we’re probably looking at around Tuesday, Sept. 13 or 20. Probably the earlier date.

This is something we’ll keep an eye on, and we’ll be sure to let you know when we have an official DVD release date for the animated family movie.
