The Expanse Season 5, Episode 9 recap: Amos finds a ship

As Amos tries to get back to Luna, there’s a power shift within the UN. Here’s everything that happened on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 9.

Everyone attempts to unite during this episode. At least, the Roci crew attempt to unite, with Amos trying to get back to Luna and Holden and Alex racing to Naomi. Would they all get back together in time for the finale?

Meanwhile, there’s a power shift within the UN. Paster’s actions lead to Avasarala and others to resign. A snap election is called and Avasarala ends up in power once more. It should be what she wants, except that we find out Arjun did die in the asteroid hit near Columbia University.

Let’s dive into the events from The Expanse Season 5, Episode 9.

Amos and Peaches try to get to Luna

We left Amos and Peaches picking up Erich at the end of the previous episode. Now it’s time for the three of them and some friends to head to the expensive houses with the shuttles.

When they get there, the staff at one of the houses shares that all the owners left ages ago. The staff members have been stranded at the houses since the asteroids hit. They also share that the shuttle hasn’t worked for two years at least.

After a heart to heart with one of Erich’s backup, Amos figures out what is needed to fix the shuttle. At the same time, Peaches decides that the staff members from the island can all join them to Luna.

Just as they get the shuttle working, the security for the island that had previously wanted all the food for “inventory” turn up. They want the shuttle, and they attack Amos’s group. Some of Erich’s guys are killed, but the important ones we’ve come to know get on the ship just in the nick of time. However, Peaches had to use her mod to take out some of the guys so isn’t in the best of

Alex and Holden both question the change of message

During the previous episode, Naomi managed to change the automated distress call. It was enough to make Karal and Marco worried, but Alex and Holden are questioning why it’s happened on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 9.

Is it Naomi on board? Is it a malfunction? Nobody knows, so instead of listening to the message, they decide to still head for Naomi’s ship.

Meanwhile, Marco sends an order to Camina’s ship to search for the Roci and destroy it. Camina realizes that something has gone wrong, but it takes a while to find out the truth. Naturally, Camina now needs to figure out a new plan to help Naomi. Can she at least get a message to Holden somehow?

Marco tells Filip the truth on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 9

Now that Marco knows Naomi is alive, he decides to tell Filip the truth. She made a hard vacuum to the ship, escaping rather than killing herself.

It’s a hard blow for Filip. Now he knows his mom is on the opposite side of the war. Killing herself would be one thing, but Naomi has chosen the enemy. Filip is angry.

He may be even angrier if he could see Naomi on her ship. She’s still looking for a way to do something that will help her situation. She needs to get messages out to someone if she wants everyone to survive. She does manage to get her suit to show up the radar, but it only leads to despair. Alex is nearby.

We end the penultimate episode of the season with everyone finally back in space. How is The Expanse Season 5 finale going to end?
