Can Naomi prevent Marco’s plan on The Expanse Season 5, Episode 8?

The end of The Expanse Season 5, Episode 7 has given us a little hope. Can Naomi save the day now that she’s at her ship?

Marco has a plan. He’s rigged the ship Naomi brought to Filip to explode. After all, it’s a useless ship for Marco’s plans when he’s got so much Martian tech. He needs to take out the Roci, and rigging the ship to lure Holden in is the way to do that.

Telling Naomi the plan was probably the biggest mistake Marco could make. She is now at her ship, although it’s unclear if Filip knows that or not based on what he could have seen from the doorway to the airlock.

She’s a little worse for wear, but there’s no way she died on the journey to her ship. She’ll likely take a deep breath at the start of The Expanse Season 5, Episode 8, and then start her plan to prevent Holden from being lured into a trap.

What sort of system has Marco set up on The Expanse?

While Naomi has made it to the ship, there’s still a chance she’ll fail her plan. We don’t know what type of system Marco has set up. How many explosives does he have rigged up to make sure the Roci is taken out in full? That is his only way to lure a trap, and we’ve already seen that he is willing to do that sort of thing. Remember the Zmeya.

So, Naomi will certainly have her work cut out for her. She will need to figure out a way to get rid of the explosives. She’s an engineer not a bomb disposal expert, though.

If she can’t unrig the ship, she’ll need to figure out how Marco is planning to lure the Roci in. He knows Holden will know he’s holding Naomi prisoner. He’ll know that Holden is a smart man. It will need to be something that looks like Naomi has managed to escape.

If there’s some sort of transmission going out, there’s a little bit of good news. Naomi may be able to change it and get word to Holden that it’s all a trap. But then what happens to Naomi?

Could this be how Alex comes out of the show? We know Cas Anver isn’t back for The Expanse Season 6, so could we see him sacrifice his life for Naomi to bring an end to the Marco plot?
