More than 15 new DVD and Blu-ray releases are happening this week

It’s time for another week of DVD and Blu-ray releases. It’s a big week, with 16 new releases happening on Sept. 8.

A lot of the releases are TV shows. We’ll be more than ready for the return of new TV shows this year. Most of them aren’t coming back until November 2020 at the earliest, so the DVD releases happening in August and September have certainly worked in our favor. It will be interesting to see if the releases happen in the summer next year or if all dates are now going to be pushed back.

There are a few movies heading to DVD and Blu-ray, too. It’s time to take a look at everything.

Most notable DVD and Blu-ray arrivals

There are a few notable additions to physical shelves. One of the first is Dead to Me Season 1. While there are two seasons on Netflix, this is a chance to get the first season at home. You won’t need to keep your Netflix subscription going to be able to watch the dark comedy. We’ll likely see the second season released sometime next year.

Chicago PD Season 7 will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray, making it possible to get the One Chicago shows back together for the year. It’s the last of the three shows heading to DVD.

Then there’s Prodigal Son Season 1, which is an excellent crime drama. Tom Payne stars as Malcolm Bright, a brilliant mind but struggling to separate himself from the events of his past surrounding his serial killer father.

Of course, Bad Education is a notable arrival. Hugh Jackman stars as a well-loved superintendent whose life comes crashing down when a journalist reveals some hidden information.
