Tommaso

More from Movies on Amazon

Willem Dafoe stars in Tommaso, a movie based on Abel Ferrara’s life and career, although the main character is called Tommaso. After leaving his family behind in Italy, Tommaso built a new life in the United States. He has to adapt to this new life, while also wrestling with a history of addiction. At the same time, he needs to work on his screenplay.

The movie won’t come to DVD and Blu-ray until September, so this is your first chance to see what it’s like.

Open 24 Hours

For those who love horror movies, Open 24 Hours is out on Amazon Video this week. It’s also out on DVD and Blu-ray this week. The movie focuses on a young woman, Mary, who comes from a deeply troubled past. As she works at an all-night gas station, the past comes back to haunt her.

The movie is a psychological thriller. Mary has to figure out what’s real and what’s not, as she deals with paranoia and PTSD. When her killer ex returns, everything becomes a million times worse, but is this ex real?

Emperor

Finally, we have a movie set during the Civil War period. Sheilds Green is a slave who kills a slave owner and runs away. It’s a death sentence for him automatically, so he needs to get to the land of the free. That means heading north.

Of course, he’s followed by Catch-Em Luke, a legendary bounty hunter. Catch-Em Luke will stop at nothing to get his prize.

The movie is based on the true story of Shields Green, who gained the nickname “Emperor.”
