HBO has a new drama that you’re not going to want to miss. Lovecraft Country premieres tonight, and here’s everything you need to watch the series live.
Based on the novel of the same name, Lovecraft Country focuses on Atticus Freeman, a Black man in America who is on a journey to find his missing father. He’s on that journey with his Uncle George and best friend, Letitia.

The three are traveling through a racially segregated America. There are some dangerous situations the three will find themselves in, but that doesn’t stop this need to find the missing Montrose.
It’s certainly an important tale for today. While America may not be officially segregated, there are still far too many issues with racism than there should be.
What to expect in the Lovecraft Country series premiere
The first episode will introduce the characters. Don’t worry if you haven’t read Mark Ruff’s 2016 novel of the same name. You won’t need to know the story to jump in and enjoy this HBO series.
The show is set in 1950s America, which will give you an idea of the racial segregation taking place. It’s a dangerous time to be a Black person in the United States, especially outside of the areas Black people were expected to stay. We’ll get a sense of that in the premiere, but there is much more to come throughout the series.
Just because people don’t want Atticus and his friends around doesn’t mean they don’t belong there. It’s a line in the trailer that stands out for all the right reasons. It’s time for Atticus to fight for his place in the world because nobody will fight for him. Is he willing to do that?
