There are some movies you will watch in theaters. There are others you’ll wait for DVD. Then there are others that you’ll wait to come to streaming services. Dora and the Lost City of Gold is one of the last for many people.
I get it! There were many questions over the quality of the Dora the Explorer live-action movie, and also questions as to whether it was needed. However, I can say that this is one of the best movies for families right now.

What is Dora and the Lost City of Gold about?
You all know Dora the Explorer. Your children likely watch it on a daily basis. Hey, you may have watched it daily! It was a great show that taught children about the jungle and wildlife and about speaking another language.
It was hard to see how that could translate to a live-action movie. What could Dora teach us?
Well, it was about what Dora would lead. She headed off to the wilderness that is an American high school. Naturally, her cousin is immediately embarrassed by her as she just doesn’t fit in. The smartest girl in school feels threatened by Dora’s own knowledge of the world. Yet, the two and one other student end up realizing that not only do they need Dora, but they need each other to survive the wilderness of the jungle.
Dora is kidnapped and the other three end up accidentally on the journey to South American when criminals want to find Dora’s parents, who have gone on an expedition to find the Lost City of Gold. Not only does Dora need to find her parents, but she also needs to figure out all the clues to find the city herself and keep that city protected.
If you love Spy Kids, you’re going to want to check out Dora and the Lost City of Gold. It’s cheesy but it’s fun. And the kids will most definitely adore it.
