Amazon Prime Video adds 29 new titles on its Aug. 1 drop

This isn’t just a normal weekend. It’s the start of a new month, which means we get the big drop on Amazon Prime Video.

There’s a total of 29 new titles joining Amazon Prime Video today. Some of them are only temporary, as various Amazon Channels offer one season free to entice people into the rest of the seasons. That doesn’t mean they’re not worthy of watching, but just a reminder that you’ve really only got this month.

More from Amazon

There are some notable mentions on top of the ones we picked out yesterday. One of those is Riviera Season 1, which is available through Sundance Now. Set in the French Riviera, we follow American art curator Georgina Clios whose husband is tragically killed in a yacht accident. Georgina needs to figure out who killed her husband, knowing that it couldn’t have just been some random accident. The second season is on Sundance Now and there is a third season confirmed.

Ice Road Truckers Season 1 is also available thanks to the HISTORY Vault’s release. This is a great reality show that follows truckers who travel some of the most dangerous areas of North America. What happens if they break down? What about when the roads are too bad to travel on? How do they cope? Other seasons are available through the HISTORY Vault.

When it comes to movies, Four Weddings and a Funeral is back on Amazon Prime Video. Hugh Grant stars in this 90s movie that is all about love. When his character meets a woman at a wedding, he thinks little of it until they come across each other at future events. Love is in the air.

Then there’s Rain Man, starring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. Cruise is Charlie, a selfish car dealer who kidnaps his brother to convince his brother to give up their late father’s inheritance. The diabolical part is that the brother, played by Hoffman, is autistic. It’s not perfect but it is well written and brilliantly acted.
