The King of Staten Island is a must-watch when it comes to movies loosely based on a person’s life. We get a look at Pete Davidson’s life throughout the movie, and it’s soon available on DVD and Blu-ray.
Released during the pandemic, the movie quickly gained rave reviews. However, it was only made available to rent on Amazon Video and other VOD service. It’s not yet available to purchase.

However, you can pre-order The King of Staten Island on DVD and Blu-ray ready for its Aug. 25 release date. When you pre-order through Amazon, you grab the Price Guarantee, so you’ll never pay more than the lowest amount it drops to up to the release date.
It’s not clear when the movie will be available to buy on Digital. This usually happens one or two weeks before the DVD release date, so will likely be the case here. You can still rent the movie, though.
What The King of Staten Island is about
This is one of those movies that quickly became a must-watch, grabbing a 73% approval score from the critics and 86% score from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes.
The King of Staten Island tells the tale of Pete Davidson through fictional characters. Pete plays Scott, a man who lost his firefighter father during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Despite being in his mid-20s, he’s achieved little in life. He only has one dream: to become a tattoo artist.
However, as his younger sister heads off to college, Scott realizes that there might be more to life. He just needs to deal with his mother’s new boyfriend around. That new boyfriend is a firefighter, which is sure to bring back some memories and suppressed feelings.
