What to expect on the Penny Dreadful: City of Angels season finale

We’re about to see what we’ve been building up to. It’s almost time for the Penny Dreadful: City of Angels season finale.

This show has certainly taken us on a journey. It’s sometimes been hard to figure out how storylines are going to combine, but the penultimate episode gave us a hint. Mixed with the promo, it’s pretty clear that all three of Magda’s human characters are possibly going to come face to face. What will that mean?

Meanwhile, tensions are at an all-time high in Los Angeles as Martial Law is enacted. It’s time to see what we can take away from the Penny Dreadful: City of Angels season finale promo and synopsis.

I’ll leave you with the two first before we get into the breakdowns.

"Peter Craft (Rory Kinnear), Elsa and the boys are trapped amidst a riot. Townsend (Michael Gladis) celebrates the rise of his political fortunes. Tiago and Molly (Kerry Bishé) face reality about their relationship. Lewis and Tiago rush to protect Brian (Kyle McArthur). The Vegas celebrate the Day of the Dead."

Mateo is still with the Pachucos

There was a little hope in the last episode that Mateo would leave Rio and Fly Rico behind. However, something is going to set him off. He’s heading back to the Pachucos, and he’s going to be part of the town riots.

We’d always known that the show would build up to the Zoot Suit Riots. We’re probably not going to see the actual riots because we haven’t even reached World War II yet, but we’ll see the start of it play out. And Mateo is with them.

The Craft children will be caught up in the riots

The last we left the Crafts, they were in the car on the way to the movies. It was a suggestion made by Elsa, so you knew there had to be some sort of reason for it. Well, it turns out she knew another human form was encouraging rioting.

The Crafts will be in the middle of the riots as they take place. Will everyone get out alive?

Tiago may break up with Molly

The two have tried to live their dream. They want to be in a world where skin color and culture don’t matter. That’s not going to be possible, though. At least, that’s what Tiago is starting to think.

It looks like he’s going to pull away from Molly. Will this lead to him feeling so down that he’s willing to risk everything? Will he feel worthless in a world that doesn’t want him? Or will it be just enough for him to follow whatever path Santa Muerte seems to have put him on.

Molly learns some sort of truth

Meanwhile, Molly screams “what have you done” in the promo. This is likely aimed at her mother, who we all know deep down had something to do with the Hazlet case. Is Molly about to find out that Adelaide is a Nazi sympathizer?

Maybe Adelaide has done something worse. Has she attacked Tiago? Or maybe she’s been involved with the police and the lynching of Diego. What has she done?

Lewis is desperate to win the fight

There’s a point in the promo where Lewis is holding his gun at someone. He’s asking this person if “this is what you want to give the world?” While there is a flash to Tiago, there’s also a hint in the synopsis that he could be speaking to Brian.

For the last few episodes, Lewis has been trying to keep Brian safe from the Nazis. But isn’t it possible that Brian has been working with the Nazis all this time? Has Lewis found out what Brian is really creating?
