When is The King of Staten Island coming to DVD and Blu-ray?
A rough date for The King of Staten Island DVD release
The King of Staten Island is one of the latest movies to get the straight-to-VOD treatment. It’s out to rent on Amazon Video and more, but what about if you want to own it? When will it be on DVD and Blu-ray?
It’s hard to say. The usual rules aren’t applying right now. With movies heading to Digital right away, it’s been difficult to assess when the studios will choose to release the movies on DVD and Blu-ray. After all, there’s no 90-day window that needs to be respected and the studios need to make as much money back as possible in unprecedented times.

All we can do is hazard a guess based on the way other straight-to-VOD releases have worked. Fortunately, The King of Staten Island is a Universal Pictures movie, and this studio has had plenty of movies be available to rent on VOD and then later come to DVD and Blu-ray. We can look at them, including The Invisible Man and The Hunt.
We’re still looking at three months
Despite the lockdowns, Universal still opted for a three-month window between the “theatrical” release and the DVD and Blu-ray release.
The Invisible Man and The Hunt were out in theaters just ahead of lockdown and then quickly went to VOD for rent. However, both took about three months to head to DVD and Blu-ray. So, we’re looking at Sept. 8 or Sept. 15 for The King of Staten Island heading to DVD and Blu-ray.
As for Digital, the movie is currently available to rent. When will it be available to purchase? The Invisible Man was available a couple of weeks ahead of the DVD release date. The Hunt saw about the same release. We’re probably looking at that for The King of Staten Island, so we’re looking towards the end of August or start of September.
