Questions left after watching Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 7

Threads are starting to join together on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels. Episode 7 brought us the revelation that different groups are joining together to wipe out diversity in Los Angeles, but will they win? It’s time to break down the questions gained from the episode.

Of course, there’s still a lot going on. If you only look at it from the surface, it looks like all these storylines are separated. However, it’s clear from one little moment at the end that different storylines are all leading to one end point.

And then there’s Maria’s story, which seems to have stalled a little. However, it’s clear there’s more to eventually come. Here are the big five questions after Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 7.

Why doesn’t Maria recognize Magda in different forms?

I wondered at the end of the last episode if we were going to see Maria start to realize that Rio and Elsa were the same person. Knowing that Magda would appear to her, I wondered if she’d realize that Rio and Elsa weren’t even real people. They were human forms of the dark sister of Santa Muerte.

Instead, Maria didn’t notice anything. She knows that Elsa is dangerous, pushing her out of the Craft home. She certainly wants to protect the boys. However, at no point did she recognize the different faces of Magda. So, what is Maria seeing? Why doesn’t she recognize her devil?

Is Tiago in trouble with Molly’s mom?

More from Amazon Channels

The episode saw Tiago and Molly head to Tiago’s room at the motel. She certainly has a soft spot for sinners and she’s falling hard for Tiago. However, can we please remember that Diego wasn’t the one to kill the Hazlets? Also, I don’t think it was at the hands of the Mexicans.

The Hazlets had to have been killed by Adelaide. Or at least the murders had to be orchestrated by her. Something about the way the bodies were laid and placed in Day of the Dead makeup suggests that white racists want to start a race war.

So, this puts Tiago in trouble. It won’t take long for Adelaide to realize that her daughter is sleeping with Tiago. Isn’t the best way to deal with him killing him? At least, in her eyes?

What will Adelaide get her daughter to share on the radio?

There’s much more for Adelaide to do on Penny Dreadful: City of Angels too. She’s meeting with Councilman Townsend and the Nazis. And I think we all know that she’s a racist woman who wants nothing but a comfortable life. She’ll do what she can to support the Third Reich.

So, what is she going to convince her daughter to say or do on the radio? Will Molly go through with it? After all, Molly isn’t racist but is she strong enough to stand up against her clearly abusive mother?

Will Beck be able to uncover any secrets?

Councilwoman Beck is trying to undermine Townsend every step of the way. That means taking down his Right Hand Woman, Alex. Beck has threatened Alex with uncovering some secrets, and Alex genuinely looked uncomfortable.

Let’s be honest; as a supernatural being in a human form, Magda shouldn’t feel threatened about Beck. Does this mean that Alex is some sort of real person? Or is Magda concerned because it’s clear that she has no control over women?

Is Dottie safe with the Cal-Tech student?

The Cal-Tech student is still working with the Third Reich, and he’s lying to Dottie and Lewis about it. This isn’t good. I don’t trust this student for a minute.

And yet Dottie and Lewis feel for the kid. They’re believing his stories and offering him safety. Dottie can’t be safe, can she?

We know that the Third Reich is following the student. That puts Dottie at risk. The Nazis won’t care about some old Jewish woman. They’ll kill her to “save” the Cal-Tech student. I’m worried about Lewis’s friend.
