It’s another weekend, which means you’re looking for something new to watch. Not just that, but you’re trying to bide your time until the first of the month with the big drop on Amazon Prime Video. Well, here is a list of five good movies to watch.
Three of the movies are on Amazon Prime Video for free. The other two, you’re going to need to buy. One of them is through your HBO subscription if you already have it (and we’re not talking HBO Max).
There is something for all, whether you want to laugh or cry. Let’s dig right in.
Come to Daddy
While it landed on Amazon Prime Video during last weekend, you may have overlooked it. Now is the time to check it out. Elijah Wood stars in Come to Daddy, a movie about a privileged man-child who ends up on a journey of self-discovery.

Norval heads out to see his estranged father. The two haven’t seen each other in 30 years, but it’s not a dream reunion. Norval realizes that his dad is a jerk with a shady past.
The Tracker
Love Taken? What about Death Wish? There’s another movie to check out with a similar story. One man goes on a vengeful mission after he fails to save his kidnapped wife and daughter.
The movie was added to Amazon Prime Video this week. If you want something free that doesn’t require too much thinking and you don’t mind violence, this is the movie for you.
Paul
Those with an HBO subscription, you’ll want to tune into Paul. This is an excellent comedy that will be perfect for adult movie night.
Two British friends head off on a road trip around the States. Their plans are changed when they run into a literal alien. Now they need to help the alien get home before it’s too late.
The Vast of Night
Fans of sci-fi will want to check out The Vast of Night. As an Amazon Original, it’s available to stream for free on Amazon Prime Video. And that’s where it’s staying.
The movie is set in a small New Mexico town in the 1950s. When two friends hear strange frequencies over the airwaves, they decide they have to check it out. Little do they know, their journey will lead to unraveling town secrets.
The High Note
The top release has to be The High Note. It’s out in select theaters right now, but like so many other movies recently, it’s been released to rent on Amazon Video.
This musical movie follows Grace Davis, a superstar whose talent has reached an unbelievable height. Unfortunately, so has her ego. Now she has her overworked assistant running all sorts of unnecessary errands, when all Maggie wants to do is become a music producer. Grace’s manager finds out and offers Maggie an opportunity that she can’t refuse.
