What are the biggest questions after Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 5?

During Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 5, we got a few clues about the Natalie Dormer’s Magda. It also pushed the plot forward with Tiago learning of Mateo’s involvement in the cop’s death.

While the episode was a relatively slow-paced one for some other storylines, it gave us a hint of things to come. Now it’s time to look at the big questions pushing us into Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 6.

5. What will Tiago do about his brother?

During the episode, Tiago immediately realized that his brother, Mateo, had been involved in the death of the cop. Right at the end, he had his brother cornered. Instead of taking Mateo in, he let him go. After all, Tiago knows how Mateo will be treated at the station.

That doesn’t mean Tiago can just let his brother get away with murder. He’s going to have to do something. Will it involve tattling on Mateo to their mother?

4. Is Alex losing her hold on Townsend?

Townsend was extremely happy during the episode, and it’s clear that he’s in love. If he wasn’t just an awful man at times, I’d actually feel sorry for him about his romantic life situation. However, the scene between Alex and Townsend suggests that she may be losing control over him.

Alex has been struggling to keep Townsend under control for a while. It’s why she wanted the video. Will she now use that video against Townsend?

3. What steps will Peter Craft take next?

Peter Craft decided to put a halt on family time to help Elsa. I did have to question Linda’s comments about “office hours.” Emergencies don’t exactly come up during “office hours.” Regardless, Craft has chosen to help Elsa literally hide a body. What does that mean moving forward?

What will Craft do when it comes to his family. After all, Linda is now in the way of Craft and Elsa being together. Will he kill her?

2. What is Adelaide’s next step?

Adelaide has found out that Molly and Tiago are together. This puts Tiago in danger. She had to have something to do with the previous murder. What are the chances that she’ll arrange Tiago’s murder? She could even frame that one as an attack considering the racism around L.A.

However, there’s a hint that she could end up manipulating Tiago in another way. What are the chances she knows Josefina and Tiago are related?

1. Who exactly is Magda?

One of the questions from the beginning of the series has been about who Magda is. Penny Dreadful: City of Angels gave us a small hint. As Rio, she talked about the Aztec and European religions. Is it possible that Santa Muerta is a deity of the old religion and Magda is connected to the European religions? She didn’t seem too happy that Mateo had a symbol of Maria’s faith.
