Can you purchase Scoob! on Amazon Video right now?

Scoob! is an excellent movie for the whole family right now. While you can rent it on Amazon Video, can you also purchase it to keep?

Warner Bros. opted to test the Digital market with the release of family movie Scoob! at the weekend. It’s a great option for fans of Scooby-Doo and just small kids in general. The question is whether you’re limited to just the renting of the book. Can you purchase it on Amazon Video?

I get why you think renting is the only option. When Universal Pictures made its movies available on Digital, they initially only became available with a rental option. We had to wait for the DVD and Blu-ray release for the movies to be available to purchase on Amazon Video.

Warner Bros. opted for something different. Instead of only making the movie available to rent, fans could buy it at the same time. The rental price is about $20 but you can buy for about $25-$30. It makes sense to make the purchase price a little higher since it will only be bought once, while renting movies makes them available for a short period of time so fans need to rent again if they want to watch after.

You can choose to rent or buy. It’s completely up to you. In my house, we rent on Digital. Renting gives us a chance to trial the movie and then we can get the combo packs when the DVD is released to get the Digital code to have in both formats. It still works out cheaper than taking the kids to the movies to watch their favorite new releases.

Scoob! will eventually be released on DVD and Blu-ray. It’s just not clear when that will happen just yet.

As a family full of Scooby fans, Scoob! is going to become one that we get on DVD as soon as it’s released. It’s great fun with Scooby and Shaggy getting an origin story and a beautiful tale of friendship.

Reviews aren’t great on Rotten Tomatoes, but I often think critics miss who the movie is actually for. My kids loved it and that’s what really counts when it comes to a family-friendly movie.
