Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Season 1, Episode 3 will see the threat against the Mexicans continue. Here’s a breakdown of the promo for the episode.

There is a lot happening throughout Penny Dreadful: City of Angels already, and it’s clear these storylines will combine eventually. Episode 3 gives us a look at more danger before the chance of happiness. It’s time to break down the promo for the episode.

This show certainly has a feeling of The Terror: Infamy. It’s lost the grittiness of Victorian London that the original Penny Dreadful series had, but that’s something all the promo for the show made that clear in the run-up to the premiere episode. Instead, we’re focusing on the discomfort of real history.

I’ll share the Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 3 promo and synopsis first. From here, we’ll start breaking everything down for the important takeaways.

"Tiago and Molly (Kerry Bishé) visit Santa Monica Pier in an effort to escape their complicated lives. Livid at the murder of his friends, Lewis interrogates Brian Koenig (Kyle McArthur), a young Cal-Tech student. Townsend (Michael Gladis) and Alex’s political agenda is jeopardized when Councilwoman Beverly Beck (Christine Estabrook) vows to fight them. Peter Craft (Rory Kinnear) discovers a dark truth when he visits Elsa at home. Mateo (Johnathan Nieves) visits the Crimson Cat dance hall and is invited into a seductive, dangerous new world."

The doctors were sure he wouldn’t come off the vent. Maria had faith, but why do I get the feeling that this isn’t wholly Raul? What made Santa Muerta give Raul back to his family? That’s certainly something to question as we get into the next set of episodes.

One thing that is clear is that right now Raul doesn’t remember who shot him. Mateo isn’t afraid to tell the truth, forcing this family to be ripped apart further.

4. A councilwoman is in trouble

Councilman Townsend thinks he has control. He’s put fear into the local people, and now he wants to wipe out the Mexicans in the city. Not everyone is on his side, though.

One councilwoman, Beverly Beck, is putting up a fight. Instead of using politics to fight back, Townsend is turning to his Nazi friends. Of course, they’re willing to kill for him, but it will come at a price.

3. Lewis wants to hide the truth

Lewis knows that his friends weren’t killed in a car crash. During the post-mortem, four bullets were found. We know they come from the Gestapo shooter. Why didn’t he remove the bullets? Does he want them to be found? Knowing the Gestapo, he probably doesn’t care about people knowing the truth. He’ll think he can get away with it.

That’s going to be possible if Lewis buries the evidence. He doesn’t want the M.E. to share his findings about the bullets. Is he really going to take matters into his own hands?

2. Sister Molly is being watched

Tiago and Molly head to the pier to get away from their complicated lives. We know that Molly’s mom, Miss. Adelaide, won’t be happy about this. Is it really that surprising that she has a tail on Molly?

Does Molly know that she’s being watched? Is this guy her security guard or is he trying to blend in and just watch Molly’s next steps? After all, Molly clearly knows something about what happened to the murder victims. The question is whether she’ll feel comfortable talking to Tiago at the pier, thinking nobody else is around.

1. Magda’s third human form appears

We’ve got to meet Elsa and Alex so far. There’s a third human form that Magda is taking throughout the series. We’ll get to meet her in Penny Dreadful: City of Angels Episode 3.

We know that this third human is linked to the Mexican-Americans. Is it possible that she’ll be connected to Fly Rico in some way? Maybe she’ll be the one whispering in Mateo’s ear to further break down this family.
