The Renee Zellweger movie is a firm favorite for the rom-com fans out there. Before being inclusive was being pushed consistently, Bridget Jones’s Diary offered those of us unlucky in love and socially awkward a chance to revel in a movie.
Bridget is everything we sometimes are. She turns up to parties in the wrong dress, she finds it hard to talk to the people she has a crush on, and she doesn’t know what to do when life changes on her.
Zellweger is everything we need in the character. She’s relatable and funny. Who hasn’t sang “All By Myself” while eating a whole tub of Ben and Jerry’s? Of course you have!
There’s a reason this 2001 movie is routinely played. There’s a reason we all screamed with excitement when we realized it would be on Amazon Prime Video in time for Valentine’s Day. And there’s a reason both critics and audiences love the movie.
