When will Gretel and Hansel be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video?
By Mads Lennon
Gretel and Hansel is a haunting retelling of the classic Brothers Grimm story. Will you be able to stream it on Amazon Prime Video?
Based on the popular Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Gretel and Hansel stars Sophia Lillis as Gretel and Sam Leakey as her younger brother, Hansel. The siblings find themselves traipsing through a dark wood when they stumble upon the home of a frightening witch. Aside from Lillis and Leakey, the movie also stars Charles Babalola, Jessica De Gouw, and Alice Krige.
The movie is receiving mixed reviews from critics. While it is faring better than January’s previous horror releases, it didn’t get rave reviews either. Most praised the haunting visuals and atmospheric frights but said that sometimes the story itself got a little lost. It was released alongside Blake Lively’s new film, The Rhythm Section.

If you’re planning to wait to watch the movie when it leaves theaters, you might be wondering whether or not it will eventually stream on Amazon Prime Video. The good news is, Gretel and Hansel will most likely transition to Amazon Prime in the future. It is an Orion Pictures movie and their previous films, Anna and the Apocalypse, The Prodigy, and Every Day all eventually began streaming on both Amazon Prime and Hulu.
As for when you might be able to expect it, it might be a while, unfortunately. Previous movies have taken almost a year to make the transition. Usually, at about 11 months, they begin to stream. The earliest we can anticipate Gretel and Hansel hitting Prime would probably be December of this year.
