What isn’t there love about Sherlock Holmes? Now that it’s on Amazon Prime Video, it just had to enter the list of 50 best movies on the streamer.
There have been some excellent movies joining Amazon Prime Video in January 2020. Sherlock Holmes was one of them, and you know it just had to join the list of 50 best movies on the streamer right now.

But why does Sherlock Holmes land on the list? Well, it’s perfect timing with Robert Downey Jr.’s latest crazy period movie, Dolittle. He’s certainly challenging some of his Sherlock personality through this. However, there are many other reasons to add the movie to the list.
It’s simply an enjoyable movie, one that the entire family can enjoy. While there has been plenty of adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels, this is one that immediately stands out. It has a great script, wonderful acting, and intriguing directing choices. Even if you’re not a fan of some of Guy Ritchie’s other works, like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, you can easily forget that this is a Guy Ritchie movie. Only some of the action sequences stand out, and they’re not overused.
While it’s sort of action, the movie is also a comedy. And you will find yourself laughing from start to finish, whether it’s everything Sherlock gets up to or the way Watson attempts to deal with it all.
There is a second movie, but it’s not yet on Amazon Prime Video. It’s certainly worth buying or renting though to make a full weekend out of it.
