Marc Cherry’s soapy and fantastically fun new CBS All Access series, Why Women Kill, has officially been given the green light for a second season!

Fans of Why Women Kill won’t have to stress about the show being renewed after they watch the season finale. TVLine reports that the series has officially received a second season order from CBS All Access.

Marc Cherry’s anthology series will focus on a brand new set of characters during the second season. It is not yet known if any of the actors from the first season will return to play different roles.

Season 1 of the series starred three women in three different time periods, all grappling with a different type of portrayal. Ginnifer Goodwin plays a 60s housewife who learns her husband is cheating on her. Lucy Liu is an 80s socialite, also with a cheating husband. Finally, Kirby Howell-Baptiste is a progressive lawyer who gets involved in a complicated relationship alongside her husband.

The show has been a success for the streaming service which has steadily been diversifying its many shows. In addition to other popular series like The Good Fight, Star Trek Discovery, and Tell Me a Story, the CBS streaming service is proving to promote more diverse and genre-savvy content than its broadcast counterpart.

CBS All Access has also nabbed the full-season streaming rights to The CW’s new Nancy Drew reboot.

It’s not yet clear when the new season of Why Women Kill will premiere. It is likely that CBS will release it around the same time as the first season. Although that logic didn’t apply to Tell Me a Story Season 2, which we’re still waiting on a trailer for.
