Will the Downton Abbey movie be on Amazon Prime Video?

Downton Abbey Seasons 1-6 are currently on Amazon Prime Video. Does that mean the movie will come to Prime soon? Unfortunately, probably not.

You can watch Downton Abbey the series on Amazon Prime Video. Does that mean the movie will also be available to stream? Sadly, that is not likely the case.

Downton Abbey Seasons 1 to 6 aired on PBS. All PBS shows currently eventually head to Amazon Prime Video, and all six seasons of this particular PBS Masterpiece series are still available to stream. The movie isn’t a PBS Masterpiece series.

Instead, Focus Features was behind the movie. That means, like Mary, Queen of Scots, Boy Erased, and other Focus Features movies, Downton Abbey will head to HBO Now.

There is a light in this sliver of bad news, though. You’ll be able to get HBO through Amazon Channels, meaning you’re only paying one fee and you can access everything through the Amazon account. There’s no need to jump between multiple sources and look at all your subscriptions to track them. Great, right?

Of course, it’s annoying if you’ve wanted to stream the movie as soon as it’s available. Instead, you’ll need to get it on Amazon Video digitally and add it to your collection. You’ll likely be able to do this in November.

Downton Abbey saw the cast of the final season of the series return, along with new characters. We picked up with a royal visit, and it’s certainly seen rave reviews from both critics and the audiences. You’ll definitely want to check out the movie at home if you don’t get a chance to see it in theaters.
