Where can you stream The CW’s new series Nancy Drew?

Many fans are looking forward to the upcoming CW adaptation of Nancy Drew. But where will you be able to stream the new series?

Nancy Drew is the latest in the string of CW reboots and revivals. The series is based on the famous book character of the same name. Premiering this fall on The CW channel, the show will follow 18-year-old Nancy right after she graduates from high school. Unfortunately, her plans to go to college are put on a brief hiatus after she gets sucked into a new mystery that she and her friends must solve.

For the past few years, fans have been able to watch The CW series a few days after their season finales on the streaming giant, Netflix. But this year marks a change of pace for how The CW series are going to be distributed.

For starters, several CW shows are going to become exclusive to the new Warner Brothers streaming platform known as HBO Max. All DCTV series and even the upcoming Riverdale spin-off, Katy Keene, will go to HBO Max. Some will still be on Netflix as part of a legacy deal.

There was apparently a bidding war for the rights to Nancy Drew and Deadline reports that CBS All Access won the bid. It’s somewhat surprising given CBS tends to skew towards an older audience, although is the parent network of The CW. They have acquired the rights to “past seasons” of the show, meaning the season won’t be available until after it has aired in full.

The last time CBS tried to bring in a younger demographic was with Supergirl, and it wound up moving to its younger-skewing network, The CW. However, CBS All Access is already markedly different from the CBS network and has had success with other genre shows like Tell Me a Story and Star Trek.

It’ll be interesting to see how Nancy Drew fares on the platform. This is also great news for Amazon Prime members as you can get CBS All Access through a channel add-on.
