The Lion King has hit theatres this weekend but if you want to wait for the DVD copy then here is when it could be potentially released!

For a while, Disney has been remaking their classic movies into live-action versions with Dumbo and Aladdin already being released earlier this year. The Lion King is the latest live-action remake to hit theatres this week which will be adapted from the 1994 movie, giving you all the nostalgia. I personally will be watching it in theatres but if watching from home is more your thing then here is when you should expect to see the DVD release.

Most Disney movies tend to get released to DVD three months after theatrical release, which was the same for other Disney live-action movies Dumbo, Christopher Robin, and Beauty and the Beast. So there it is highly likely The Lion King will go in the same direction.

More from Movies on Amazon

We can probably expect The Lion King  DVD and Blu-ray release early or mid-October this year, depending on which Tuesday due to all DVD releases being on a Tuesday.

The Amazon Video release will likely be at the same time which is what happened to previous live-action Disney movies. Digital HD releases with most movies are a couple of weeks earlier but Disney Digital copies are usually at the same time as they prefer you to buy DVDs.

With the Disney+ streaming service coming later this year, the movie will more than likely be available to stream there, eventually. Hopefully, more information will be released soon as having a subscription can often be easier than purchasing a DVD copy.

The Lion King is a classic, and chances are you have seen the animation. I have been unsure of the recent Disney remakes but something about this live-action looks special. With a star-studded cast with the likes of Beyoncé, Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, and Keegan-Micheal Key and what looks like amazing CGI, it is sure to impress everyone.

The Lion King may be a re-imagination of a well-known story, but the feud between brothers is a timeless story well worth another watch. Mufasa (James Earl Jones) must raise his son Simba (Donald Glover) be a proper heir to the kingdom despite constant threats from other members of the animal family — and even his own family.
