Amazon and Google have buried the hatchet. It’s finally possible to watch Amazon Prime Video on your TV through your Google Chromecast.

Have you ever wanted to just quickly stream your Amazon Prime Video shows and movies from phone or tablet to the TV? Unless you’ve had an Amazon Fire TV, you’ve not been able to until now. Google and Amazon have buried the hatchet, as we previously reported. It’s finally possible to stream everything on Amazon Prime Video through your Google Chromecast to your TV.

This does offer much more control, especially for those who tend to be Google households instead of stocking up on Fire TVs and Alexa. After all, your Chromecast have been able to do so much else, including casting your Netflix, Acorn TV, Crave, and much more. It was always annoying that it wasn’t possible to cast Prime Video content too.

More from Amazon

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to get much more use out of my Prime Video now. I love the content but trying to stream on my TV was a headache without the casting ability. I don’t have a Fire TV and had to use the Android box I have instead, which isn’t the most user-friendly system and has its flaws when in something like Prime Video.

This isn’t the only benefit of Amazon and Google burying the hatchet. If you own a Fire TV, you’ll be able to get YouTube through it. The Google video search engine now works on the Fire TV Sticks, the Fire TV Cubes, and the Fire TVs.

Six months ago, Amazon started selling the Chromecasts on its site again. Adding the ability to cast directly was always going to happen, but it’s taken some time to manage it.

When you sign into your Amazon Prime Video account through a phone or tablet, you’ll get a pop-up that tells you casting is now possible. By the way, you may find some movies and shows you hadn’t realized were added to the streaming service. I certainly have by looking at the main screen instead of just going straight to the Amazon Originals I love!
